Welcome to the ASMBS Virginia Chapter

The Virginia Chapter of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery is for the members of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) who practice in Virginia.

The mission of the Virginia State Chapter is to become a voice for dealing with statewide issues in bariatric surgery. Our goal is to advocate on behalf of patients and providers in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We will work along with the ASMBS to enhance patient access to care and to improve the quality of care provided to bariatric surgery patients.  We will also work to protect the interests of the patients and the providers in regard to regulatory and reimbursement issues.

The purpose of the society is to advance the art and science of bariatric surgery by continued encouragement of its members to exchange ideas, information and experience in the field of bariatric surgery.  We also promote guidelines for ethical patient selection and care, and develop education programs for physicians and lay people.
