Submit your abstracts for inclusion in the 2026 VBS Annual Meeting! Submission deadline is June 15, 2026. 

Virginia Bariatric Society: Abstract Competition Submission Guidelines

Three prizes will be awarded: first place $300, second place $200, and the keynote speaker’s choice $150. 

Abstracts will be eligible for the following categories: 

• Oral Presentations 
• Integrated Health (IH) Presentations 
• Behavioral Health Presentations 
• Poster  
• E-Poster Presentations 
• Video presentations 

FINANCIAL DISCLOSURES REQUIRED BY ALL AUTHORS (COI): 

All authors must disclose ALL financial relationships. Abstracts will not be considered if this is not completed. 

ASMBS ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: 

· Abstracts must be original work. 

· No authors may be added or deleted after the abstract submission deadline. 

· Maximum 250 word count

· Submitted abstract titles must NOT contain trade names. 

VIDEO ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: 

Videos submissions require submission of an abstract. Videos must follow the ASMBS standardized video format:

• Video title 
• Disclosure 
• Clinical presentation & indication of surgery 
• Preoperative images/ endoscopy 
• Operative procedure with emphasis on trocar placement, dissection, and resection and reconstruction. 
• Postoperative images, course, and 30 days outcome. 
• Conclusion 

Videos must not exceed 7 minutes in length. Videos must include verbal narration. Narration must use generic terms and no use of commercial/proprietary names is allowed. No background music. Videos cannot contain any evidence of commercial support.
